The otHER
Who are we?
The otHER is an immersive exhibition of East Asian women, presenting a multi-sensory environment of women and art. The title "the otHER," combining "other" with "HER," signifies how society's act of treating women as secondary ("othering") directly leads to challenges and biases against them. Drawing inspiration from "The Second Sex," this name emphasizes the causal link between societal views and the disadvantages women face, urging the need for change. With the aim of raising an awareness of female's suffering through their lifetime to the public, our festival will make a strong impression on them with its various works of art.
What should you expect?
Combining art with themes that can be a bit clichéd, we expect the public to experience an immersive art world of women. At the same time, we hope to appeal the audiences the seriousness of invisible pain of females and their hopelessness. Several interactive art installations and immersive scene settings are prepared for the audience. In the room divided into three sections, artworks from different themes and backgrounds will be displayed to represent the different ages of women. By applying different decorations, installations and interactive art in the different sections will respond to the different dilemmas and challenges faced and encountered by women at each stage of their lives. With the collaboration with UAL students, we will flourish our artworks more professional.
